WhatsApp will no longer allow underage users on the app

WhatsApp is reportedly developing a feature that will enforce the minimum age requirement of 16 years and older in its Terms of Service (ToS).
This is according to a report by WABetaInfo, which stated that this change is part of a rebranding strategy to show that Facebook owns the social network and with that rebranding comes new rules and regulations.
The report does not state how the company will detect if users don't meet the age requirement.
In a beta test in Europe, users were only allowed to use the app if they are over 16 years old and in areas outside of Europe, users had to be at least 13 years old to use WhatsApp.
Users who want to try out the beta version of WhatsApp can download the update by signing up through the Google Play Beta Programme.
