CAPE TOWN – Microsoft on Thursday announced the developer edition of the company’s HoloLens 2 headset.
The company has yet to give an official availability date for the device, as it only stated that it will be available “later this year.”
The HoloLens 2 will come in a kit form that will include the HoloLens 2 hardware, Azure credits with free trials of Unity Pro and Unity PiXYZ Plugin for CAD data.
The kit will also include a carrying case, Overhead strap, Microfiber cloth, Charger and USB-C cable.
According to Microsoft, the developer kit will be priced at $3,500 and the original commercial pricing of the HoloLens was $5,000.
The company also mentioned that the HoloLens 2 will support Unreal Engine 4 and will be available for developers to start using by the end of May.
This will allow developers to use and create apps that include photo-realistic renders for use in manufacturing, product design, architecture, and more.
