Instagram launches new features for #PrideMonth

CAPE TOWN – In celebration of Pride Month, Instagram launched new features and hashtags for the occasion.
The company said in a blog post: “We’re rolling out colourful tools to help our community celebrate, updating our gender options in Profile and releasing an LGBTQ+ teen guide.”
“When you use these hashtags in Feed this month, they will be displayed in a rainbow gradient."
By using the hashtag #UntoldPride, the platform will put together a safe environment where users can share their individual stories and experiences with the wider online community.
When the hashtags #pride2019 and #lgbtq are used, users will see their story rings will be highlighted in rainbow colours.
The company will also give users the ability to change their gender to “gender non-conforming” on the platform as well.
In addition to these new features, Instagram will also feature stories from LGBTQ+ creators as well as provide access to a well-being guide dedicated to helping LGBTQ+ youth.
